About the special issue
Research suggests that men's participation in care in society is an important and underestimated factor in relation to quality of life and gender equality. This special issue looks at the situation in Europe, through studies based in a number of different countries. Europe is characterized by a great deal of variation, which is influenced by both increased gender equality as well as traditional norms and rules that govern how and to what degree men can participate in care. The issue editorial by Gullvåg, Snickare, Elli Scambor, Marc Gärtner, and Marta Warat provides an overview of the situation.
